René Kaczka-Vallière (pronounced "catch ka-valley air") is a native of Brattleboro and hockey enthusiast, and has lived in Cambridge MA, Boston MA, Minneapolis MN, and in Coventry England (where he attained his Master's in Peace and Reconciliation Studies). René now lives with his partner Jeanne and their fosterson near Oakledge Park.
As a social worker, René has advocated for children, families and seniors. On a part-time basis, he has co-facilitated Domestic Abuse Education (DAEP) groups with men charged of domestic assault. While engaging in this work, René has seen how ordinary people lack basic needs, such as housing, health care and economic security. René will continue to strive for a society that is more fair and equitable, and he believes as a city councilor, he will have more of a impact to make this a reality.
